A new community event is on the way in Call of Duty: WWII on PS4 , Xbox One , and PC . Starting today, players can participate in the limited-time Blitzkrieg event that introduces a new game mode, weapons and more to the online game .
The Blitzkrieg event will run until May 8 and will feature a new limited time mode called Ground War . This game type is only available during the community event and will feature two teams of nine players playing against each other between Team Deathmatch , Kill Confirmed , Domination and War modes.
In addition, Activision has made HQ a playable map in Party Games . Unlike Ground War , the map is a permanent addition to the game and is now selectable in Prop Hunt , Gun Game , and Free-For-All modes.
Beyond the new map and mode, Activision has added six new weapons to the game: Type 5, ITRA Burst and M2 Carbine rifles; Type 38 sniper; Sterling SMG; and baseball bat. In addition, players can take on a new Community Challenge where they will earn various rewards such as a new helmet, weapon talisman and a special Rosie II Grease Gun variant.
Later this week, Activision will launch a new challenge for all Call of Duty: WWII players. Starting April 20, players will be tasked with completing 75 million Orders and Contracts in multiplayer. Even if that goal isn't met, Activision says gamers will earn their reward "every step along the way."
