On the field, PES 2018 is great. Every pass is beautiful, every fight and every shot brutal. If you're playing a new Pro Evo, this shouldn't come as a surprise to you.
The series has evolved dramatically since the PS3/Xbox 360 era, reaching possibly the most fluid and saturated football game ever released. FIFA 's game meanwhile has stalled in recent years, becoming less responsive, sluggish and more frustrating to play .
Despite this, FIFA already sells PES every year for one simple reason : licenses. We have yet to see if EA's giant bundle has evolved with FIFA 18 last year , but you can count on players to fulfill their childhood dreams and players like Neymar, Ronaldo, Rooney and more. Meanwhile, PES limits it to a handful of licensed teams, with most of the English and Spanish leagues demoted to teams like Man Blue, MD White and London FC (Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea, respectively). ).
Player licenses are thankfully not an issue, so you can continue playing as your favorite players. But playing inexplicably with a light green kit instead of a light red or white or blue stripe, the fantasy of controlling your team is much lessened and you feel like you've stolen your dad's XStation GameBox cartridge.
Once upon a time, these mistakes were fun. Playing as "Gregs" instead of Ryan Giggs was hilarious at the age of 10, and even this year looking at the PES 2018 teams and guessing who "West Glamorgan City", "East Dorsetshire" and "ST" are has made it a fun game. But it gets annoying, and many people's reason to play football is undermined: to enjoy their favorite club when it's not on a Saturday afternoon.
