The teenager, Bryan, played LoL during his treatment and recovery, and his family said they could tell Riot how we felt about how much they played. He didn't play at all on his worst days, but as his condition improved, he moved up to the Platinum V rank. Before visiting the studio, he "brainstormed" with Riot over email and video chats; While there, Dark Star Cho'Gath provided feedback on the first version of the costume, even mentioning that he played the clarinet on a recording of the Dark Star Cho'Gath theme song.
The original idea was to create a custom "native" skin for Bryan's account, but after the visit was over and the design was complete, the developers began discussing the idea of making it available to everyone.
"Each year we pick a few key projects to go big and bold," Riot chief Jeff Burrell said in a statement. "It started locally because Bryan just wanted to design his own costume for himself. We can say he had a really good idea."
Dark Star Cho'Gath is available for 1350 RP. All proceeds will go to GlobalGiving , which will donate proportionally to more than 20 nonprofits around the world, each worth at least $10,000.
