" Wolcen: Lord of Mayhem " is an action role-playing game inspired by high fantasy gothic settings, similar to "Diablo" and "Path of Exile".

The environment in the game is similar to the oppressive medieval period. Gloomy forests and caves The most striking technical details in the game were the visuals. Visual graphics like a painting will offer you wonderful views while playing the game.

Wolcen's most important details begin with character creation. Apart from the basic cosmetic options, your biggest choice from the start is which weapon you want to start with. You are not asked what role you want to embody or what classic archetype you want to create. Wolcen doesn't directly let you create any class of your choice at any point, at least in theory. Each weapon you equip changes your basic attack, but you're free to match it with any skill combination. Abilities are collected like loot, you can learn spells, melee, and ranged barracks and easily swap between them like any other piece of gear. Each of these abilities is fueled by willpower or rage, making up the two halves of the same resource meter. Consuming one usually fills the other, Basic attacks from your chosen weapon will usually charge one or the other together. Your ability to combine different abilities is limited as they are synergistic in this battle between willpower and anger.

In the early stages, while it was raining ice with magical abilities, we could create a mage warrior combination by slashing enemies with a one-handed sword. Every attack looks amazing; bright red glyphs accompany fire spells, waking burning embers glow from dark and gloomy caves, I found myself exploring the opening hours of the game. As you start layering on each other, the screen not only visually communicates important information to you, but also floods the environment with stunning effects and the effects of the destruction you cause.

Wolcen lets you redefine your combat approach and technique at any time.

You define your character's traits by assigning points to four ability archetypes - Violence for Damage, Hardness for Health, Agility for Speed, and Wisdom for sickness effectiveness. You also have access to a daunting, large skill tree with rotating layers that allow you to create paths that combine abilities from different layers. It's an extraordinary detail that can spend hours reviewing damage percentages and critical chances, creating a way for you to track enroute to your perfect build.

Given the unstable Wolcen difficulty, don't fret if you didn't notice it right away. Its three long chapters are mostly filled with extended linear chapters where you shuffle from one enemy encounter to the next, each more challenging than the last. At first it's satisfying to watch a large group of enemies break into and mingle with their bloody guts, but power fantasy, you can adjust your strategy to keep up with any challenge.
