Valorant's 18th Agent has been officially confirmed by the developers in the recently published State of Agents blog post. The blog post, which covers an overview of the agents introduced in 2021 and the changes we will see in the first half of 2022,also included cryptic clues about the new Valorant agent .
In 2021, which was a very successful year for Valorant, we met the characters of Yoru, Astra, KAY/O and Chamber, each of which has a unique skill set and place in the meta. Acknowledging that the character balance has remained in the background compared to previous episodes since Patch 3.0, the developers promised that this situation will completely change in the new year. Many agent updates are waiting for us in the first months of 2022. Especially for Yoru, who after starting the game became one of the weakest agents in Valorant after a few minor nerfs that followed through patches. Riot is trying to restore the game balance and improve the duelist.

The most compelling part of the blog post was the next Valorant agent, who was described as " who will blow everyone away, shock the competition, and slide into the middle of the conflict with some style " . In previous leaks, it was suggested that the new character might be Filipino, so much so that character producer John Goscickis's introduction to the subject as "Mga kaibigan ko", meaning "my friends" in Filipino, clearly indicated the nationality of the new Valorant agent .
Small leaks of the new agent have appeared many times before, through the battle pass, the night market poster, and the Champions 2021 tournament . Finally, the developers provided a notification that the 18th Agent is on the way.
Considering the purple-blue running shoes, lightning bolts descending from the heel to the ground, and Riot's use of words such as 'shock' and 'energy' to describe the agent, the new agent's likely name might be Sprinter . Fans can expect a new competitor in the fast mobility category for Jett.
The upcoming addition to Valorant's roster has been hinted at in various ways and has been spotted in classified files some time ago. The sprinter directs lightning to create bursts of mobility that can be used to disrupt enemy positioning. Agent 18 's codename sheds a lot of light on its possible skill sets and Radianite-powered abilities.

It's still unclear when Valorant Sprinter will be released, but it could debut on January 12, 2022, along with the highly anticipated Episode 4 Part 1 .
