EMEA Challengers Stage 1, featuring the best 12 teams in Europe, continues at full speed. Teams around the world faced off against their regional rivals on February 11 in the Challengers event. Challengers Stage 1 , the first step before the VCT Masters event , has a five-week program in a row.
Based on the final performance, a total of 12 teams qualified for the EMEA Challengers . Four teams, Acend, Gambit Esports, Team Liquid and Fnatic, received direct invitations to the tournament for their success at VCT 2021. Guild Esports and BIG were selected from EU Challengers 1, while SuperMassive Blaze and FunPlus Phoenix became the representatives of Challengers 1 Turkey and CIS region, respectively. Similarly, LDN UTD and G2 Esports EU Challengers 2 participated in the tournament due to their success in BBL Esports Turkey Challengers 2 and Natus Vincere CIS Challengers 2.

The group stage of the tournament will be held in a reciprocal format, with each pairing decided on the best of three series. The top 3 teams from each group will then qualify for the Playoffs. The 12 participating teams are grouped as follows.

All six qualifying teams will compete in a double elimination format to secure the top three at the Stage 1 Masters . Down teams from both groups will participate in the VCT Promotion event where they will compete against the winners of all Valorant Regional League tournaments across Europe for a ticket to the Stage 2 EMEA Challengers .
