The Guardian has been a topic of discussion in the Valorant community for some time now . In a low TTk fps game like Valorant , Agent abilities aren't the only thing Valorant developers need to tune and balance, but weapons as well. And no matter how hard they try, Riot is really struggling to make the Guardian a more viable weapon in the game. Valorant Patch 1.08 brought a lot of power-ups and reinforcements for the weapon. Previously in patch 1.03, the Guardian tried to make it a more viable option during the Riot economy rounds.received some significant balance changes. However, Valorant patch 1.03 is said to have not done much in improving the Guardian's popularity and pick rate, so it will receive the following changes in the final patch:
Cost reduced from 2,500 to 2,400
Rate of fire increased from 4.75 to 5.25 rounds per second
Gun recoil increased from .35 to .2925 after three rounds.
According to the developer's notes , Riot says , " We don't think Guardian can (or should) compete directly with Phantom or Vandal . " But we want it to be a place where players can feel good about choosing the weapon. made statements.
Much like the Bulldog, Valorant's Guardian was always meant to be a mid-range weapon that players could choose more comfortably during hard-buy and economy rounds.
However, in reality, this was not the case, and the rate at which a Guardian weapon was picked up was very low in games. The majority of the Valorant player base would instead save up for that weapon for the Operator , Vandal , or Phantom , and Bulldog would always take precedence, even if they were forced to make a choice.
The Valorant patch 1.03 changes have not been very successful for Guardian; However, 1.08 laid the groundwork for its changes, and only this time we can hope that the gun will finally gain popularity.
