EA has revealed how in-game progression and rewards, competitive rankings and challenges will work in Star Wars: Squadrons . In a blog post, EA reiterated that Squadrons is "a standalone game where all progression, unlocks, and rewards are earned through gameplay only." There are several ways to progress through the game in Squadrons. You can go for Requisition and Glory, the game's in-game currencies, or climb the ranks in Operations.

Just by playing matches, you will unlock the experience that causes you to level up. At each level you will earn Claims that you can spend to unlock ship components. These components allow you to customize your eight starfighters by tuning each ship's performance to your ideal standard. Squadrons will also be working on eight weeks of Operations, which is basically the Battle Pass version of the game. Operation Challenges allow you to earn unique cosmetic rewards valid for a limited time only. Additionally, by participating in Fleet Battles, you can level up your Operation. From lowest to highest, competitive Operation tiers are Maverick, Hotshot, Hero, Valiant, Legend, and Galactic Ace. Finally, completing daily quests connects you to Glory, and that's can be spent on unlocking cosmetics for your starfighters and pilots. Unlike cosmetics tied to Operation Challenges, the cosmetics you can earn with Glory are not only available for a limited time.

Star Wars: Squadrons is scheduled to release on October 2 for Xbox One , PS4 , and PC . The game will also be playable in VR mode on PC and PS4 . Set after the events of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Squadrons sees you playing as two pilots, one from the New Republic's Vanguard and the other from the Empire's Titan Squadron.
