The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2022 tournament will be hosted by South Korea , making it the first international League of Legends event in Korea since 2018. MSI constitutes the most anticipated annual LoL tournament outside of Worlds.
So far, Korea was the only major region not to host an MSI, and the last international tournament in the country was the 2018 World Championship. The fact that MSI will be played in South Korea also marks its return to a major country after the interruptions due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the last two years. The pandemic had forced Riot to cancel MSI in 2020 and Worlds to use a restrictive "bubble system" in China for 2022. The company adopted the same system for both MSI and Worlds tournaments in Iceland in 2021.
The LoL MSI 2022 tournament is expected to take place between the last week of April and the first week of May, based on the event's dates from previous years. It is not yet known in which city or place it will be. Excitement is at its peak for the 12 major league champions around the world to go head-to-head.
