We've learned a few things about Bethesda 's upcoming sequel to Rage 2 , a joint development from id Software and Just Cause studio Avalanche Studios . Someone asked Avalanche boss Christofer Sundberg on Twitter which engine the game would use, and Sundberg responded by verifying Avalanche 's internal engine.
This was a bit of a surprise, given that the first Rage used Software's own idTech engine. Someone else on Twitter asked Sundberg if Rage 2 would use Avalanche's engine and idTech 's next evolution, but he didn't respond.
The Avalanche internal engine sounds very sophisticated and, in the context of Just Cause 3 , allows for some incredible open world activities and quirks. Bethesda has yet to confirm a release date for Rage 2 ; It just says the game is coming in spring 2019 . After an asteroid has killed 80% of the world's population, it continues: “Ruthless and bloodthirsty gangs roam the open roads and try to rule with a tyrannical iron fist.” You, Walker, play as "the last Ranger of the wasteland and a threat to [the Authority's] power." Your character was robbed at home and left to die, but now "for justice and freedom your anger is required."
Bethesda stated that we will see the new Rage 2 game at the company's E3 press conference . This schedule is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET on June 10. The company recently stated that the showcase may be the longest lasting. Despite Rage 2, we know very little about what will be included.
