The Pokemon Go update - 1.57.5 for iOS and 0.87.5 for Android - brought a big innovation to the mobile game.
Central to the update is the game's new AR+ mode. As the name suggests, this is an enhanced version of the existing AR feature adapted from Apple's ARKit assisted reality technology. In AR+ mode, Pokemon appear closer to their true size and become aware of their surroundings. They'll probably run away if you shock them by moving fast. However, if you can get close enough to a Pokemon without being surprised, you'll get an expert handler bonus that rewards you with extra XP and Stardust when you catch the monster.

Like last year, players will have a chance to catch a Santa hat Pikachu during the event. A Santa hat can transform into a Raichu , while a Santa Hat Pichu can be hatched from an Egg. In addition, Niantic has added 20 more Ice and Water-type Pokemon in Ruby and Sapphire, originally including Milotik, Glalie, Sharpedo, and more.
