Monster Hunter World: Iceborne recovers lost files, Capcom investigates.
A large number of users complain that the cloud files of the game are deleted.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has arrived on PC , but not everyone is doing well. Several players on Steam and Reddit have been complaining that the update deleted their save files, which in some cases cost hundreds of hours of gameplay.

After installing the Iceborne  update, affected players are told that a compatible in-game save file could not be found. Therefore, the players whose records were deleted had to start the game from the beginning.

One theory is that the presence of some mods can cause compatibility issues, but at least a few players have said that they lost their saves despite not having a game mod. Another possibility is that players who haven't been around for a long time may have missed an update that changes the way they save, and Iceborne isn't able to read old saves. A Capcom representative said the team is aware of the complaints and is investigating the issue, but has yet to find anything definitive.

If you haven't run the Iceborne update yet, but plan to do so soon, it's recommended to manually backup your saves before doing anything in Steam\User data (which you should be able to find). If your saves have already been deleted, you can restore them with the MHWSaveTransfer utility and this " Iceborne Ready " system , both available from NexusMods (via Steam user nomotg) .

Alternatively, you can wait for Capcom to fix this issue.
