After an incredible year, League of Legends European Championship (LEC) teams are returning to the valley with the 2022 Spring Split. As in the previous 2021 season, this season will have two 'super weeks'. The first superweek will take place for the tournament's opening weekend. The LEC 2022 Spring Split will be full of action and excitement as Europe's best teams battle for a place in the Mid-Season Invitational 2022 tournament . The LoL LEC 2022 champion will participate directly in the Mid-Season Invitational.
Riot said the LEC 2022 Spring season will begin on January 14, 2022. Just like in the 2021 season, crowds will not be allowed at matches due to fears about the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19. Instead, Riot says they will focus on "creating the best online experience from scratch" as there are no in-person events on their timeline.

Compared to last year, only one new organization is coming to the LEC. After FC Schalke 04's departure, it will be replaced by Swiss organization Team BDS. The team has already made a name for itself by recruiting key players and coaching staff, including former G2 coach Grabbz.
Fans have turned their attention to Fnatic with the joining of Marek "Humanoid" Brázda and legendary top laner Martin "Wunder" Hansen. Rogue, MAD Lions and G2 Esports are popular names in the LEC and fans have high expectations with new rosters for all teams.

If the LEC keeps the format as is, ten teams will compete in the double-circuit group stage. All matches where the top six teams qualify for the Spring Playoffs will be best matches. The top four will compete in the winners group, while the 5th and 6th will start in the losers group.
However, keep in mind that the LEC 2022 Spring Season tournament structure is based on previous formats and should not be considered conclusive. The exact format will be confirmed a few weeks before the start of the competition.
