League of Legends ' first long-awaited animated series " Arcane" is finally coming to Netflix . The streaming service has officially confirmed today with a trailer that the show, called Arcane , will debut this fall . The series was originally announced as part of the League 10th anniversary celebration event in 2019, but due to the global pandemic, Riot postponed Arcane to 2021. There's not much information yet on how many episodes the series will have or when exactly it will be released, but it's clear that the developer company is in an effort to expand League beyond just the core strategy game. The trailer may only be a few seconds long, but to give a brief rundown of the plot, it's said to tell the origin stories of Jinx and Vi , two iconic champions of League of Legends , in the background surrounding the two utopian cities in Runettera, Piltover and Zaun . If the series is built around these two cities as said, we're likely to see Viktor, Warwick, Caitlyn or dozens of other champions in the area as well. Netflix , whose effort to break into the world of video games has been obvious lately , is gearing up for the upcoming Tomb Raider anime, and even the animation of League's big rival, Dota 2, apart from the blockbuster success of The Witcher . League of Legends Arcane will be produced by Riot Games in partnership with Fortiche Productions, with whom it has collaborated on feature films and music videos in the past .
