After a long wait for so many fans, the Overwatch 2 PVP beta has finally been announced. With it will come brand new maps and, more importantly, a new hero. In the latest developer update from Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller, the beta date has been confirmed in late April, and registrations are now open for players to join. Gamers are looking forward to testing the game ahead of launch.

Aaron Keller has revealed that the new alpha test will be playable by "Blizzard staff, Overwatch League pros, and a few other select groups," with the upcoming beta launching in all regions for a larger but still closed audience.
Keller, in a statement on the subject; “This closed beta will include a larger group of testers that we will ask to provide feedback on the game. Our goal at this stage is to test our new features, content and systems before stress-testing servers with a larger player base in future Beta tests.” He described Overwatch 2's first PvP beta as "the most important release we've had since our launch."

While continuing to work on single-player and cooperative content, Blizzard said it changed the release schedule for Overwatch 2 by "separating" the game's PvP and PvE elements to bring competitive multiplayer content to players more quickly.
While PvE is one of the main focuses of the Overwatch 2 experience, the developer is keen to get the game to players sooner, and temporarily separating these aspects while continuing to work on PvE seems to be the only solution.
Besides including PvE and PvP, Overwatch 2 will bring many changes to the formula. In the closed beta , players will play at the new five-player team limit, with only one Tank allowed per team instead of the previous two-player cap. There will also be a new playable Damage hero named Sojourn , the 33rd character in the series and the first Black female protagonist .
Another change in the Overwatch 2 beta is that the PvP mode is integrated into the first Overwatch and its sequel, meaning players of both games will be able to simultaneously experience new heroes and new maps for a fairer gameplay experience. There will be four new maps in the Overwatch 2 beta;
Blizzard is also promising new hero works, some of which came out last year when developer Overwatch transitioned from a 6v6 competitive multiplayer build to 5v5; Orisa said that Doomfist, Bastion, and Sombra will see reworks during beta.
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Overwatch 2 will be playable in a recently launched closed alpha test. A playable beta test for Overwatch 2 targeting a larger group of players will launch on PC at the end of April.
In November, Blizzard Entertainment announced that it is "planning a later than originally anticipated launch for Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4". Now Overwatch 2 is in beta, but Blizzard, as usual, has not announced any release date for Overwatch 2 .
Overwatch 2 is in development for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
