Nerd Street Gaming's North American First Strike Valorant qualifiers hosted some of the most incredible matches the region has ever had the privilege to witness.
In the tournament, some of the best teams in the world faced off against each other for a chance to participate in the main First Strike event in December.
However, while the matches are incredibly exciting to watch for a Valorant player, the production quality may seem problematic to many fans.
In a recent Reddit post, a Valorant player named aquaponicbrian talked about the issues seen during the North American qualifiers and things the production team needs to improve in order to reach Valorant's viewership potential.
“ First Strike was really fun for me as a Valorant player, but it still has a long way to go to get a polished Cast product to reach its viewing potential. I've really enjoyed the tournament so far. But a casual esports production unfamiliar with the tournament scene might miss out on the important details completely . ”
Riot Games' other game , League of Legends, has an incredible production team behind its esports success.
Even TheScore Esports documented how the broadcast team played a key role in League of Legends ' audience success in Europe. The same is true for Valorant . The better the quality of the broadcast, the better the e-sports server of the game, the more people you can attract.
' aquaponicbrian ' also talked about some of the issues and possible solutions Valorant broadcast could consider to make production as smooth as possible.
"By Riot/developer: We should stop changing team colors.. yah I know.. one is offensive colors and defensive colors, but no football teams change their colors, when they change who's on the ball they don't change uniforms. And it wouldn't be confusing for spectators. Teams like uniforms It would be better to see them have custom suits/colors, but I understand that this is a major development process, The minimum requirement here is to have a team maintain the same color throughout the match (at least for their spectators)."
After the first 12 rounds and when there is a side swap during overtime, many of the key post-game events get confusing. Providing each team with a different color for the entire match will definitely help players keep up with the action.
“Whoever is directing the camera needs a lot of practice. There were times when I wasn't really sure if the camera switching was done by a human or by a random timer. It's really easy to lose the viewer's sense of context when switching between players from different teams and between players in other parts of the map."
