Everything You Need To Know About The Elden Ring Story

FOXNGAME

One dreary night deep in winter, an unknown horde of assassins have taken over the Lands Between. In the simultaneous attack, this abominable covenant extinguished the lives of many of the God-Queen's relatives in the empire, too many for her divine protection to save. The assassins' goals were multifaceted, but none were as devastating a loss to the Eternal Queen as Godwyn the Golden. After his death, the Elden Ring was somehow shattered and the order of the world was disrupted with it.

Out of this chaos came war. An open, relentless war, blood for blood and kin for kin. The conflict tore apart a vast and prosperous empire into fragile pieces. Even if either side were fueled by the power of the Great Rune, they would not find enough purchases to sustain a decisive victory.

General Radahn's battle against Malenia the Severed showed that neither strength nor skill alone would be sufficient to take control of all the lands Marika had united. And so, the Lands Between is no longer in the grip of open warfare, but caught in an unsettling stalemate that seems impossible to resolve.

Wouldn't you like to be in the world created by FromSoftware's own work and based on the elaborate mythology of George RR Martin, author of The New York Times bestselling fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire?

You will relive the Shattering, a war that brought darkness in the Lands Between long ago, initiated by the demigods' hunger for power. You will fight alongside General Radahn and Malenia the Severed, but even these two invincible warriors could not bring together such a badly shattered world. There was only one hope left: the hope that a New Hand Lord would rise up and lift the shadow veil that had fallen on Marika's domain.

The Story Between Elden Ring Lands

FOXNGAME

The Lands Between is the world of the Elden Ring , whose inhabitants are blessedby Grace through the Elden Ring and Erdtree. Those blessed by the Elden Ring are characterized by having a golden aura visible in their eyes. However, at some point, some of the blessed ones lost their grace, were exiled and labeled as Tarnished. As time went on, for reasons unknown, the Elden Ring shattered and its parts dispersed into the Lands Between. The largest of these pieces were called the Great Runes and were claimed by the six Demigod children of the Eternal Queen Marika, causing them to inherit different powers and physically changed and twisted as they were corrupted by the power of these runes.

The Lands Between is divided into 6 separate areas, each controlled by a Demigod (Demigod) and has a central "upper world" that connects all 6 areas. According to an interview with Miyazaki, players will have complete freedom in the order they want to tackle for each area, and it's up to the player how they want to approach it. Similar to the Firelink Shrine or Majula from previous games, the hub area is not accessible at the start of the game, meaning you have to progress through the game until you reach the hub area.

Elden Ring The Tarnished Story

FOXNGAME

At the opening of the official teaser trailer presented at E3 2021, we saw a soft-spoken woman in a hoodie say, "The Tarnished will be back soon." The question is, who and what is Tarnished ?

Simply put, you are the one who is Tarnished . As the player, you are one of the Tarnished exiled, losing the blessings of Grace bestowed by Erdtree, the tree that houses the source and life of the Elden Ring and The Lands Between. It's very similar to previous Souls games where you were Chosen Undead or Ashen One.

After the disintegration of the Elden Ring, you are summoned back to the Lands Between along with the other Tarnished ones to find the missing Grace and the pieces of the Elden Ring, make them whole once again, and become the Lord of Elden. Legend says that the one who saves each Great Rune and renews the Elden Ring will be the Lord of Elden. And as the storyteller suggests, you may be the one to follow this path, Tarnished.

According to Hidetaka Miyazaki in an interview: "I feel like one of the main themes of the game is how the player (Tarnished) approaches or behaves in this new-found grace and returns to the land where they were once exiled. It's not just the player-character, of course. "There are many characters in the game, all of which have been recalled and will have their own adventures and goals. We want the player to discover for themselves what it is, the means and how they want to start their adventure."

Elden Ring Universe Origin: Erdtree Era

FOXNGAME

The Elden Ring story takes place in Lands Between. The player will recognize this as a desolate and dangerous place filled with undead soldiers and the occasional dragons, but this was not always the case. Long ago, the once beautiful and prosperous land was peacefully ruled by "The Eternal" Queen Marika and her children, the Demigods (Demigods). For a long time this noble family and its people lived under the blessing of Erdtree and Elden Ring.

Erdtree is a gigantic glowing tree as the name suggests, but the Elden Ring is not really a ring. Unlike the one written by other RR, Elden Ring is a mysterious force that holds Lands Between's 'Golden Order' in place. Based on the events that followed, it appears that Elden Ring is Erdtree's source. Consists of Great Rune, including "Death Rune".

The Rune of Death

FOXNGAME

So what happened to Elden Ring ? It seems that it all started when the Death Rune was stolen. Based on all this, it looks like the Death Rune was stolen with the goal of saving the world from the Demigods. It is also possible that one of the demigods did it to gain power over the others. But without the rune in place, the dead no longer remain dead, so the Lands Between populates with undead monsters.

Shattering and Demigods

FOXNGAME

After the Rune of Death was stolen, the six Demigods began to wage war against each other. In the story trailer, it is this battle that is referred to as the Shattering (rather than the destruction of the Elden Ring). As it turns out, none of the Demigods were victorious, and so the Lands Between were destroyed by a never-ending conflict.

When you enter the Lands Between, you will find that each of these six Demigods rules their own corner of the kingdom and clings to a Great Rune. The Great Runes gave them tremendous strength, but they also corrupted their minds.
