Apex Legends Developers Accidentally Added Early Leave Penalty to Game
It claimed that this feature, which is still under development, was accidentally brought into the game.

Apex Legends  developer  Respawn  was recently activated, then quickly disabled, penalizing players who left matches early. The studio announced that while this feature was in the works, it was mistakenly removed for a temporary fix before it was ready.

In an update to the Apex Legends  subreddit, community manager Jay Frechette said the studio was working on the feature, but "it was not our intention or plan to go live with the [April 4] update." said. He said that because of a missing script of a track, the penalty was opened early and the studio disabled the penalty. It is not yet clear when exactly this update will be released.

Update 1.1 included some gameplay-enhancing changes, such as allowing you to invite a member of your last team to your party, and adding the team's invite to the Friends menu. You can also mute from the Legends selection screen, so it will totally help you make the game connect with good teammates and ignore the bad ones.

Still, the early abandonment penalty has become one of the most requested features within the community, as one person in a three-man group and leaving the game negatively impacts the team's composition. Admitting that he doesn't know if the feature will be fully implemented suggests he's probably still arguing over the idea versus other ways to deal with team composition issues.
