Developer Innersloth decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead focused on expanding the content available for Among Us . In a blog post, the developer wrote that the decision was made in response to the recent rise in popularity of the party survival game. “All of the content we planned for Among Us 2 will come to Among Us instead, ” writes Innersloth . “This is probably the harder choice because it means digging deep into the core code of the game and reworking a few parts of it. We have a lot of things planned and we're excited to bring new content to everyone as you continue to enjoy playing it,” he continued.

These content expansions include new servers, colorblind support, a friend/account system and a new tier, but Innersloth "has a lot of other things planned as well, we just need to prioritize and organize." said. Innersloth didn't offer an exact date for when players can expect this new content to arrive, but the developer writes that working on the servers "takes all development time" at the moment. The new friends/account system will definitely take some time as well. Despite first being released in 2018, Between Us saw a tremendous increase in gamers in 2020, possibly due to the game's growing popularity on Twitch.
