2021 has been a strange year, considering that many developers and studios are feeling the impact of the pandemic most here. Many highly anticipated games are rumored to be released in 2022, if even half of them are delayed to 2023, the new year will still be exciting. The list below specifically includes games that have been confirmed to be released in 2022, so games like Final Fantasy 16 are not included as their release date is uncertain.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus (January 28)
Perhaps the first major game release of 2022 is Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Taking a more open-world-like approach than mainline RPGs, the game takes place in a time past long before Sinnoh was properly recognized as Sinnoh. This leads to new evolution discoveries (like Kleavor, a nonexistent evolution of Scyther in modern times), a new story, and a new form of combat.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human (February 4)
February and March 2022 are the busiest dates on the upcoming games list , and it's a game that will kick off the trend, some that some never believed would see the light of day. Open world zombie games are now more popular than before, and Dying Light 2 Stay Human, the sequel full of brand new ambitions of a breathing, living world, has been following the fans for a long time. The dead are not the only enemies! It will be interesting to see how Dying Light 2 breathes new life into an old formula.

Sifu (February 8)
Sifu is a fighting action-adventure game with roguelike elements. Fatal injuries also age the hero, adding a unique twist to the classic kung-fu story about hunting and defeating the enemies that killed the hero's family. We can say that Sifu's first appearance left a curious impression in general.
Sifu is out on February 8 for PC, PS4 and PS5.
Horizon Forbidden West (February 18)
Horizon Forbidden West chronicles Aloy's journey as she discovers the new nominal location. All sequels should build on and expand on the previous one, and this one is no exception. From the combat and transition of Horizon Forbidden West to the skill trees and playstyles, everything seems to be going in the right direction.

Elden Ring (25 February)
Top of the most anticipated games personal lists is Elden Ring, the latest Souls action RPG from respected developer FromSoftware. Demon's Souls is the latest in a long line of challenging, punishing games like Dark Souls, Bloodborne and the like, and yet they have their own set of abilities and differences. FromSoftware brings the Souls formula to an open world setting, and that alone sounds incredibly ambitious.
Elden Ring launches February 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin (March 18)
Based on the concepts of the first Final Fantasy game and working with some Soulslike elements, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin sees players take on the role of Jack, Jed, and Ash in a quest to kill Chaos. The game features an extensive Job system where classes such as Dragoon, Monk, Thief, Knight and various Mages (White, Black and Red) spawn. Overall, it's a unique take that will stand out very well amongst other releases of the upcoming games list and March.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (March 25)
Borderlands, Dungeons and Dragons have always had a unique relationship, Tiny Tina's Assault of Dragon Keep is generally known as one of the best Borderlands DLCs in all games . The same concept is being expanded on Tiny Tina's Wonderlands early next year; here players will get a class as Fatemaker (BRR-Zerker, Clawbringer, Spellshot, Stabbomancer and apparently more). Combine this emphasis on DnD RPG elements with the Borderlands approach to loot and weapons, it sounds like a wild ride.

Forspoken (May 24)
Forspoken raised more than a few eyebrows with its emphasis on fluid transition to an open world gameplay and narrative-driven story. Frey Holland, a woman transported from NYC to this fantasy world, needs to use magical powers to save 'him' and find her way home in this inner journey. He also has a sensitive bracelet called Cuff and it will be interesting to see how this character dynamic works. Fans should expect to learn more about it in the coming months.
Forspoken is out for PC and PS5 on May 24.
Saints Row (23 August)
Saints Row is rebooting this year, bringing the series back to the basics somehow. Instead of taking over the galaxy, The New Boss assembles a new gang of dissatisfied members of the other gangs to take over the city of Santo Ileso from Los Panteros, Idols, and Marshall Defense Industries. The city has nine different regions that players can take over and start businesses and more. Co-op is back, players can design their own bosses such that Saints Row has a unique quest progression where completing quests in the co-op world completes their story.
The anticipated game of 2022, Saints Row, will be released on August 23 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Starfield (November 11)
It's not often that a developer sets a specific release date more than a year before its release, but that's exactly what Bethesda has done with Starfield. Probably November 11 is a special date for the company and also the anniversary of Skyrim. Not much has been confirmed about the game though, but gamers are ready to see how Bethesda's newest IP builds on such greats as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. More information will be available throughout the year as the concept art for Starfield continues to slowly form a picture.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (2022)
Due to the release of Rise of Skywalker and the impact of the pandemic on the industry, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has suffered quite a bit of delay. Still, there's no doubt that he was ambitious in his own right and tried to put the entire movie franchise together. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will currently be released in the first half of 2022 and could be a lead game for WB Games' current lineup.

Just as LEGO Star Wars could lead WB Games' efforts in early 2022, it looks like Kirby and The Forgotten Land could do the same for Nintendo. Coming to release in the spring, Kirby and The Forgotten Land sees Kirby appear in a mysterious world with ancient structures from a long-standing civilization in a 3D platform game. Moreover, Kirby's iconic ability to absorb enemies and absorb their powers is said to be fully empowered here.

Redfall (2022)
Arkane Studios, which received many accolades for Deathloop in 2021, has set its open-world action-adventure first-person shooter Redfall for release on PC and Xbox Series X. Players take on one of four characters (cryptozoologist Devinder, telekinetic Layla, combat engineer Remi and sniper Jacob) as they slay vampires and humans in a vampire-based Left 4 Dead-style game. Arkane has proven his reputation time and time again, and many are excited to see his take on this particular genre.

With gameplay similar to the XCOM series, fans will be able to create their own customizable superhero known as The Hunter and play with Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Blade, Ghost Rider and more. Without a doubt, Marvel + XCOM received a lot of attention.

A Plague Tale: Requiem (2022)
Requiem, the sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence, took a lot from the old production and turned it much stronger. Amicia and Hugo's journey isn't over, as they head south to new territories and cities to control Hugo's curse. Still, their power haunts them, but a prophesied island may hold answers for brother as he embarks on a brutal and heartwarming journey once again.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (2022)
It must be said that Disney entrusted the open-world Star Wars RPG to Ubisoft Massive after seeing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. That's a pretty strong tribute to a game that the public hasn't seen much, but is expected to be released in 2022. Players -as Na'Vi- will journey to the Western Frontier to repulse the RDA forces.
