In simple words, these apps were stealing user data and secretly transmitting it to servers outside the country. Therefore, the decision was taken to ensure the security and sovereignty of the Indian cyber unit. The ministry said in a press release:

"The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has received many complaints from various sources, including several reports of theft of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms, and misuse of users' data in unauthorized surreptitious transmission to servers located in locations outside India. Profiling by elements hostile to India's national security and defense, which ultimately undermines India's sovereignty and integrity, is a matter of very deep and urgent concern that requires emergency measures."

As these apps were found to be involved in activities not permitted under the IT Act, the government had to enact them immediately. All of the restricted apps are now removed from the Google Play Store. PUBG Mobile 's developers, Tencent, said on Thursday that the privacy and data of its users is their top priority, and they take their protection very seriously. The company will contact the Indian authorities to find a quick solution.
