The World of Warcraft Classic edition, and World of Warcraft in general, is helping the popular streaming site Twitch have a big day. World of Warcraft has become the most popular game on Twitch today and on August 26 , and the release of WoW Classic undoubtedly played a big part. On Twitch today, the game has reached 1 million viewers, which is several times larger than any other game. Twitch's public statistics now show that at 10:00 ET, World of Warcraft had 593,000 viewers , well ahead of the 2nd game ranked Fortnite with 120,000 viewers.
It's no surprise that the launch of a highly anticipated game has sparked a huge surge in viewers, and it will be an interesting adventure to see if World of Warcraft continues to stay popular in the days and weeks ahead. The downside to WoW Classic 's popularity is that players face long server queues, even though Blizzard has added four more servers to launch. WoW Classic , as the name suggests, can be characterized as a re-release of the original MMO from 2004 with some functionality changes. It's free for existing WoW subscribers , while game packs must be purchased for newbies.
World of Warcraft Classic is now live, and it's no surprise that this version is wildly popular. It is so popular that players face long server queues to enter the game. Those who manage to get in find other ways to wait. Social media reports indicate that players are waiting in long in-game lines to complete missions. You can see these long queues in some of the posts we see on Twitter. Waiting in line in the starting areas can be frustrating, but some people seem to get everything right. After all, WoW Classic was released recently, so it's normal to expect a maximum influx of players.
All these people waiting patiently in the queue to kill the boss in #WowClassic - this is the politest thing I've ever seen in gaming, ever 😂 pic.twitter.com/03CouuSJjz
