Valorant Rank System: How MMR and KP Work?

The Valorant ranking system is like any other multiplayer ranking system with some key differences unique to Riot Games.

The Valorant ranking system is like any other multiplayer ranking system with some key differences unique to Riot Games. When you reach 10 unranked match wins, you must complete 5 ranked matches (in competitive mode). After 5 matches, the systemplaces you according to which rank you start the game.

Valorant has no de-ranking system. However, if you do not play a single game in Competitive Mode for more than 14 days, your rank will not appear on your profile. When you play a match, you can get your current rank back.

Your rank will basically reset with every new Valorant Episode that comes in every six months. Typically, after your first ranked game in a new Chapter, you'll be ranked 3-4 places lower; Riot believes this is an opportunity for players to "reprove themselves."

There are eight ranks in the Valorant ranked system and the ranking is as follows:

Valorant Rank Points is the number of points you get after each competitive game. You earn KP based on match wins and your overall performance, especially in the lower tiers.

You need to accumulate 100 Rank Points to advance to the next level in your Ranking. The score distribution differs for each game depending on your performance in the game, but in general it is as follows:

The Valorant ranking system takes a lot of dedication and patience, but if you perform well and win matches, you can eventually top the leaderboards. The first two rows in the rank system are reserved for the best of the best. The highest rank is Radiant. While only 500 players per province reach a Radiant rank, the Immortality rank is reserved for the top 1% in each region.

Valorant MMR and RR Systems

Now that we know the absolute basics of Competitive Mode, let's now discuss how the MMR (match tier) and KP system actually works in Valorant .

The most important determinant of your skill level is your MMR based on your lifetime performance in Competitive Mode. Oddly enough, you can't see your full MMR; this value is hidden. However, if you have a rank lower than Immortality, your MMR is equal to all other players with the same rank as you.

How does your Valorant MMR affect your ranked gaming experience?

As we mentioned before, you get or lose Rank Points (KP) after each game. Therefore, the KP you receive after a match is definitely assigned to your MMR.

The higher your MMR value , the more KP you get from the matches you win, and the less points you lose in your KP value when you lose. This is actually one of the main reasons people (including pro players) create new accounts. Low MMR values make it very difficult to rank up , so they prefer to create an account from scratch to get more KP per game.
