PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has had serious success among mobile games, with a report from Sensor Tower last month stating that PUBG Mobile has generated over $200 million in revenue, a 41 percent growth from May 2019 to date. Tencent ranked both first and second in this report. The total revenue earned is equivalent to PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings' estimated total revenue of around $450.5 million. PUBG Mobile reports that a large portion of this revenue comes from its market share in China. China accounted for 53 percent of the game's earnings last month, with the United States in second place with a share of 10.2 percent and the remainder spread globally. PUBG Mobileand Honor of Kings, Roblox placed third as Pokemon GO, taking into account the total revenue earned in May 2020.
While Pokemon GO has seen impressive revenue growth since May last year, dethroning PUBG Mobile is still not enough. The Battle Royale mobile game's Season 13 Royale Pass launched last month and allows players paying for the Elite Pass to earn exclusive rank rewards. There are also Fire Ranger and Ice Ranger costumes that players will have access to as part of Season 13, in keeping with the toy-like theme of the content.
