Sony has revealed its next-generation controller, DualSense. While the name and design are slightly different from previous years, one thing remains the same between PlayStation 4 's DualShock 4 and PlayStation 5's DualSense: rechargeable batteries.
The company confirmed on its PlayStation Blog that the PS5's DualSense will actually use rechargeable batteries, just like the DualShock controllers previously did. Sony said it was "consiing ways to maintain a strong battery life for DualSense's rechargeable battery . " It's hard to tell in the image below,der but it appears that the new controller can charge over USB-C and may not have an audio jack, as it includes a built-in microphone. [Update: A PlayStation employee has confirmed that the DualSense controller has an audio jack in addition to the built-in microphone.]
Sony recently revealed some detailed specs for the PS5 that are expected to arrive this holiday season. The company stated that despite the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the launch of the next-generation system should not be affected.
