Middle-Earth: Shadow of War review

Things to know about Shadow of War

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor  was a surprise hit when it was released in 2014, and we named it Game of the Year. Three years later, there are only a few days left for its sequel,  Middle Earth: Shadow of War .

Already controversial:  The DLC honoring the developer Michael Forgey, who passed away last year, came under fire after there were indications that some of the profits would not go to Forgey's widow and children. Publisher Warner Bros later apologized and made the DLC playable for everyone. Shadow of War 's micro conflicts were also criticized because the first game didn't include them.

Otherwise, Shadow of War seems to be doing well, according to reviews from critics. We gave this open Open World style game a 7/10 in our review. "It's trying to be bigger than its first series," wrote Justin Haywald. "But at its core, it's a fun experience with great moments that provide fascinating insight into some of the untold stories of Middle-earth."
