Half-Life: Alyx Update 1.4 Introduces Amazing New Fluid Physics

Half-Life: Alyx's new update adds some exciting new features and updates, but the best has no impact on the game.


Half-Life: Alyx has received a new update that brings the game to version 1.4, and a new feature has been added - liquid inside bottles. This isn't normally something to get us excited about, but Half-Life: Alyx's fluid physics in the game environment is surprisingly successful as an exception.

The GIF below shows the liquid in a bottle and looks extremely realistic.

Update 1.4 adds other features and fixes to the game, including new subtitles, some UI improvements, and crash fixes. The workshop has also been updated, which will be good news for anyone who likes to tinker.

Added captions: Brazilian, Czech, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Ukrainian, Vietnamese
Now it looks like bottles have liquid surrounding them as you shake them.

Added controls for users loading a savegame without add-ons (e.g. unsubscribed or deleted)
Added error message when a game cannot be loaded due to missing map requested by a add-on

Fixed a bug where closing SteamVR and exiting the game would create incorrect save files

Active bone constraints in SFM that can be baked/activated as procedural bones like fabric
Workshop Fixes
Fixed some explicitly specified meshes becoming trunks. (for example, func_shatterglass will now generate a map without having to enable the legacy collision mesh.)
Added some mesh missing from parked vehicle prefabs.
Made SFM UI specific to Dota in several places
Missing map models in SFM (mainly combining stations) Fixed Import Sequence in
SFM to work correctly on animated root-directed sequences
