Dying Light 2 Weapon Guide: Best Weapons

There are several types of weapons you can acquire in the game. Below, we have listed each type and added the best weapons you can get from each type.

Axe - Hi-Tech

This artifact 1H axe deals significant damage without any upgrades. At the base level, it deals 80 damage and has 210 durability. You get +%23 durability renewal on power attack, +%17 power attack damage, and +%6 health renewal on quick attacks. It has four modification slots (the maximum for any weapon). So, you can customize it to make it extremely powerful. We recommend using basic modifications whenever possible.

Mace - Torch

You can obtain this weapon during the "Broadcast" story mission. It deals 64 damage and has a base durability of 174. The weapon has three modification slots. If you use a quick attack, it provides +%9 durability renewal and gives you +%8 durability boost when your durability is low.

Blade - Khukri

You can find this weapon during the "Broadcast" story mission. It deals 74 damage and has a base durability of 174. This weapon relies on attacking enemies to attack. It deals a lot of damage quickly and is useful for cutting infected legs, so they can't catch up with you.

Bow - Nails

You can obtain this bow during a story mission in Old Villedor later in the game. The bow is not customizable, but the amount of damage it can deal makes it one of the best we found. It deals 110 damage per shot, making it extremely useful for fighting powerful enemies while keeping a safe distance.

Ranged Weapon - The Boom Stick

This weapon is a single-use homemade shotgun. You unlock the plans for this weapon after completing the "Renegades" side mission in Central Loop. Afterward, you can purchase the plans from any Craftsmaster and craft it for 100 Scraps. It deals a lot of damage but can only be used once, so use it wisely.

Throwables - Spears

Spears are disposable handheld weapons that can be used to take down enemies in Dying Light 2. They are extremely useful against powerful infected like Revenants. You can throw spears at enemies that are either close to you or quite far away. This weapon deals a lot of damage to an enemy and instantly kills them if you're close enough.

Vehicles - UV Flashlight

You will receive this flashlight from Meyer at the PK Headquarters on the PK Command Ship after learning about the mission to take control of the radio tower from Jack Matt. The flashlight is unbreakable and can be used to combat the infected; if you shine it on infected, they will fall to the ground and writhe, leaving them vulnerable to attacks. It's also a good way to control infected or large hostile groups like Volatiles.

Dying Light 2 Weapon Levels

There are several different weapon levels that you can find or craft with the resources you acquire in The City. Below, we have listed the weapon tiers from the most powerful to the weakest.

1) Artifact Weapons

This weapon level is generally the most powerful but also the hardest to find. When you check your weapons in the inventory, artifact weapons usually have a golden line below the weapon name. A typical artifact weapon will deal a lot of damage and be quite durable. These weapons can be modifiable and have up to three modification slots.

2) Unique Weapons

Unique weapons are usually the second most dangerous weapons in the game. They are a bit easier to find than artifact weapons and are more likely to be found by using lockpicks to break into locked containers. They tend to deal a fair amount of damage but are slightly less durable than artifact weapons.

It can be quite difficult to find these tiers in Old Villedor when you first start the game. You may need to wait until you reach The Central Loop before acquiring any of them.

3) Uncommon/Rare Weapons

Uncommon weapons can be found stuck in pieces of wood on rooftops or dropped by enemies when you defeat them. However, they may have uneven statistics. An uncommon weapon can deal a lot of damage, but its durability rating is quite low.

4) Common Weapons

Common weapons are the most basic tier and can be found anywhere, including on the streets or inside abandoned vehicles. These weapons tend to have lower damage and durability ratings, making them less effective against tougher enemies.

5) Makeshift Weapons

Makeshift weapons are crafted using basic materials like pipes, planks, or nails. They are the weakest weapons you can find or craft, but they can still be useful in desperate situations when no other options are available.

6) Hands and Legs

When all else fails, you can always resort to using your hands and legs to fight off enemies. While not as effective as weapons, melee attacks with your fists or kicks can still deal some damage and buy you time to escape or find a better weapon.
