Death Stranding is officially coming to PC in June, and now another detail about the PC release has been confirmed. The game's Steam page indicates that Death Stranding for PC will use Denuvo digital rights management (DRM) to avoid interference.
Due to the nature of being DRM in the first place, Denuvo is often seen as controversial software in the eyes of PC gamers. One of Denuvo's major criticisms is that its anti-piracy software has been shown to undermine its performance in some cases.
What Denuvo offers for publishers is software that protects initial purchases. "Games will break at certain points; there's no unbreakable item. But we can always protect the initial purchases you make," Denuvo's Elmar Fischer said in 2018.
Middle Earth: Shadow of War used Denuvo as DRM and it exploded within 24 hours. Other publishers, among them Mass Effect: Andromeda and Rage 2 , have chosen to remove DRM after a while.
Death Stranding will also be released on the Epic Games Store , but its DRM status on this platform has not been confirmed.
The PC version of Death Stranding is published by 505 Games . There will be a special pass promotion for this release that brings together Death Stranding and Half-Life . The PC version of Death Stranding will have a new photo mode, as well as support for ultra-wide monitors and high frame rates.
Death Stranding was first released for PlayStation 4 only in November 2019.
