Amid growing tensions between India and China , India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has exercised its power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act, banning 118 Chinese applications in the country. A few months after the ban in Iraq, the Jordan Telecommunications Regulatory Authority decided to ban the prominent battle royale game, citing negative effects on users.
As mentioned above , PUBG Mobile has been banned in India by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The official press release stated:
“For the sovereignty and integrity of India, for the defense of India and for the security of the State. The Government of India has decided to block the use of certain Apps used on both mobile and non-mobile Internet enabled devices by using sovereign powers. "
PUBG Mobile has been banned in China because the game promotes "blood and violence," according to the government. Tencent Games then decided to release the game with a new name, " Game for Peace ", which met all the restrictions set by the authorities. Along with the permanent bans, there were also some countries that temporarily banned PUBG Mobile. The Pakistani government banned the game in July 2020 but soon reversed its decision. The game was also temporarily banned in Nepal in April 2019.
