Can Username Be Bypassed With Valorant Publisher Mode?

Players can disable their Valorant ID and change it to a generic name from the menu. However, this disabled in-game ID can be revealed by someone sending a friend request.

Valorant has become quite popular in a short time thanks to its various features and unique gameplay. The game also includes several features for live streaming. One of the highlights is the broadcast mode, which hides the player's in-game name and replaces it with the name of the chosen agent. Apart from broadcasting, it is also useful for privacy and security. There is also an option to change all players' names to a generic agent name.

A streamer's in-game name can be used to track them down and sabotage the streamer's game. Sometimes people try to harass others by tracking their Valorant IDs . Recently, a bug was discovered that bypassed publisher mode privacy settings. When a friend request is sent to players using secret names, their names may appear in a chat notification.

Major Vulnerability Discovered in Valorant Streamer Mode

Publisher mode in Valorant can be turned on in the privacy section in the general settings. Changing the option makes the player's name invisible to both teammates and opponents. There is also a second option to convert the names of teammates and opponents to general agent names. These were included for privacy factors and to prevent sabotage that could be applied to publishers.

However, a recently discovered bug can circumvent this security factor, which may seem like a minor bug, but it's definitely frustrating. The person whose in-game name is hidden can be accessed by sending a friend request from the pause menu. The system immediately sends a notification to the sender's inbox, revealing the person's real in-game name. ValorantThe player base is understandably upset by this latest discovery. Riot Games software engineer Lydia Litvyak has already answered related questions. He explained that the fix for the bug is already available internally. Unfortunately, this is not available with the Christmas update. It will still be included in the first patch of the new year, though. He also suggested a workaround for the error by the way. The request of waiting friends is limited to 50. If this limit is reached, a new friend request will fail.

If you're a streamer who is having problems with in-game people who want to reveal your username from you and sabotage your streams, invite 50 of your friends / viewers to your friend and hold the requests there.
