Assassin's Creed Valhalla Won't Be On Steam, It Will Be Exclusive To The Epic Games Store

Ubisoft has confirmed that this year's big Assassin's Creed game will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store and Uplay.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla launches this year on Xbox Series X and current and next-gen consoles, including PS5 and PC. Like previous Ubisoft games, it will be released on PC via Ubisoft's Uplay service, but can be purchased from the Epic Games Store instead of Steam.

Ubisoft has confirmed that Valhalla will only be sold on Uplay and Epic Games Store as a dedicated third-party option.

Valhalla will be the first game in the Assassin's Creed series that is not available on the Steam platform. The Division 2  was Ubisoft 's first major game to be released exclusively on the Epic Games Store . At the Game Developers Conference in 2019, Ubisoft and Epic expanded their publishing deals for upcoming games, and we now know that one of them is Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Ubisoft avoids Steam due to business model differences. Vice President Chris Early said in a New York Times interview that Steam's business model was "unrealistic".

Steam usually keeps 30 percent of game sales, with 70 percent going to developers/publishers. In contrast, the Epic Games Store offers much more to game makers; On the Epic Games Store, 88 percent of revenues go back to developers.
