Released after Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey, Valhalla redefined the Assassin's Creed formula by adding more role-playing elements to open world adventures. This included standard level progression, what equipment you can equip, which enemies will damage you harder, and more. That will no longer be the case with Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla creative director Esre Ismail explained that Valhalla prioritizes a system over numeric levels, taking into account the skills you unlock and the gear you equip over a linearly increasing number .
Assassin's Creed Valhalla will allow you to customize your playstyle using a huge skill tree, ensuring that you cater to the type of Viking you want to play. Speaking to Press-Start, İsmail stated that this will allow players to "experience the game the way they want".
Although it strays away from some of Assassin's Creed Odyssey's core systems, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will let you choose between a male or female protagonist.
