The PUBG Mobile esports ecosystem started in 2018 with worldwide events. 2020 saw the completion of the amateur to pro circuit with the introduction of PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL). The semi-pro PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO) was developed this year, we saw all teams competing for a $5 million prize pool. Introduction
Already the world's largest esports community, the 2021 schedule could see seven new PMPL regions in the CIS, Turkey, Western Europe, Arabia, North America, Latin America and Brazil. These will complement existing PMPLs in South Asia and Southeast Asia. PMCO will also announce additional regions such as the UK, France, United Arab Emirates, Africa, Bangladesh, Nepal and Mexico, and more. Similar to
development 2020, PMCOs and PMPLs will be split into two seasons at the end of the year with PMGC.
Registration for the PMCO Spring Split will open on January 1, 2021 and end on January 24. A hugely expanded global program, new PMPL and PMCO regions, as well as the ecosystem are top pro teams that will also offer exciting PUBG Mobile invitations to be hosted during the summer.
In 2020, we saw PUBG Mobile esports popularity grow significantly in the west, and while the viewership of PMPL Americas Season 2 is twice as high as Season 1, there are still big strides to be made in the region. Alongside the new PMPLs and PMCOs in the west , PUBG Mobile will focus on building more studios with ESL and VSPN and satellite studios in leading countries around the world. PMGC will kick off at 11:00 UTC on November 24, where 24 professional teams from around the world compete for the incredible grand prize of $2,000,000 and will be selected as the best team in the world at the PMGC Finals. Fans can watch the PUBG Mobile Esports YouTube channel live. The league will run from November 24 to December 20 and the PMGC Finals will take place in early 2021. On November 24, to kick off PMGC, James Yang will announce the prize pool for 2021, which will be the largest prize pool in mobile esports history.
